Edison Elementary

Fall Family Nature Night at Edison Brings Families Outside!

October 18th, 2016

With the Fall breeze kicking up the fallen leaves, SOLE partners gather with their activities around the Edison Elementary playground to show the students and their families a great night!

The families had a hard time trying to decide where to go first. They could choose from bird sighting with the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, they could learn about the Colorado State flag and dress up like our state mammal, the Rocky Mountain Big Horned Sheep with History Colorado, or they could learn archery in the gym!

Families learned so much about insects, turtles and snakes as they enjoyed their pizza and lemonade. The National Park Service even gave out Every Kid in a Park Passes.

Many students enjoyed learning how to cast a fishing poll and catch the infamous Backyard Bass.

One of the most exciting events was the Outdoor prizes raffle that was sponsored by Cabela’s. The students were very eager and excited to hear their ticket number called.

One girl won and graciously chose a fishing poll that her little brother had his heart set on. When she handed over the poll, he beam and ran across the the playground waving the poll high in the air. This is what the raffle is all about, getting kids excited about getting outside!

Although it was slightly chilly as the sun set over Edison, the smiles of the students and their Families kept us warm.

huge thanks to all our Partners who attended this night including Barr Lake State Park, Majestic View Nature Center, Bear Creek Lake Park, National Park Service, History Colorado, and The Bird Conservancy of the Rockies! Also, Thanks to all the Edison Staff and Families! The SOLE Program would not be what it is today without you.
