Pomona Elementary

Springing into Family Nature Night

March 14 2017

With more daylight Pomona Elementary got families outside for Family Nature Night.

Students and their families had a variety of activities to choose from. Grand Valley Audubon Society set up a migration game while Cabela’s cast in the lawn for Backyard Bass.

Highline Lake State Park and James M. Robb Colorado River State Park came with 2 blow-up boat to teach families all about boat safety. Even Elbert got in on the fun!

While archery was going on in the gym, Colorado National Monument from the National Park Service and Math and Science Center were in the library getting families involved in bird feeders and animal tracks and skulls.

Mesa County Library was there with check out backpacks. These are backpacks filled with items one might use when exploring the outdoors. It even includes a State Parks Pass!

Students had so many fun activities and partners to meet, it was such a fun night!

Thanks to all the SOLE Partners that made Family Nature Night at Pomona a big hit including: UTE Indian Museum, Bureau of Land Management, Tamarisk Coalition, and the Colorado Canyons Association.

We also want to give a HUGE thanks to the Pomona Staff and Grand Junction CPW staff for throwing such a popular event for Grand Junction Families.

Shout out to Elbert the CPW Mascot for making the night extra fun!
