Family Nature Night at Maybell Elementary
April 19th, 2017
Maybell is a steadfast ranch community in Northwestern Colorado, even with chores back home students and their families joined together at their quaint one classroom school-house for an evening of fun, archery and outdoor activities.
Families enjoyed a variety of nature themed activities provided by Colorado Parks and Wildlife and our excellent partners: Dinosaur National Monument, Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery and Brian Rhodes Maybell Elementary’s S.O.L.E. teacher.
Students were encouraged to examine and explore dinosaur fossils with a Ranger from Dinosaur National Monument. Also students identified fish anatomy with a fisheries biologist from the Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery!
Many students went fishing in our Backyard Bass Pond fully stocked with “Greenback Cutthroat Trout” and “Bluegill”
While some preferred to angle for the big catch, others enjoyed honing their marksmanship at the Archery Range. Sarah Hepworth, Maybell’s principle, joined in and took aim as well!
The SOLE program would like to thank all of our partners, Maybell families and all that contributed in making this event a success!
Welcome to SOLE, Maybell Elementary!
